‘Terminator Genisys’ Cast Talk Rebooting The Franchise: ‘It’s The Same Machine’
Hitting theatres on Canada Day, July 1, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in the role that made him famous, playing the Terminator in the sequel, “Terminator Genisys”. “It’s still the Terminator, it’s the same machine,” the actor says. Even though the machine has stayed the same, the rest of the cast has changed this time around. The latest installment takes us back in time, changing events in the first four films with an alternate timeline.
“Game Of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke plays Sarah Connor, a role, Linda Hamilton (and her impressive guns) made famous in the first film and the second sequel. Not a rookie in playing strong women, Clarke tells ET Canada’s Matte Babel that stepping into Connor’s shoes wasn’t easy. “She is different because the script that we were all lucky to work with has give her an entirely new back story,” the 29-year-old actress says. “I watched the movie a bunch when I was growing up, but when it came to doing this movie, I kind of stopped watching becuase I had to take our script and make it our own,” she adds. “And her guns were so darn impressive.” The actress also admits that taking on the iconic role might have influenced her role as Khaleesi on the hit HBO show “Game Of Thrones”. “It’s interesting,” Clarke says of shooting one “bada** to another” adding, “I feel like [season 5] of ‘Game Of Thrones’ has more of a kind of edge.”
