Even though “Game of Thrones” has been renewed for two more seasons, Emilia Clarke is not slowing down on her film career one bit. Deadline reports Clarke has joined the cast of upcoming WWI drama “The Guns of August,” which also has Helena Bonham Carter and Charles Dance starring.
Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning non-fiction book of the same name by Barbara W. Tuchman, “The Guns of August” will trace the first month of World War I, “thirty days in the summer of 1914 that determined the course of the conflict, the century, and ultimately our present world.” Filming under the direction of Oliver Hirschbiegel will begin next year, with the film out to buyers in Cannes now.
Clarke is best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” now in its fourth season, and she’s currently filming the lead role of Sarah Connor in the new “Terminator” reboot. She also just signed on to play Bonnie Parker opposite Nicholas Hoult’s Clyde Barrow in a new biopic of the notorious outlaw couple called “Go Down Together.”
